Having learnt traditional furniture making techniques, I love to build things by hand.  For me designing and making are inseparable and equally enjoyable parts of an organic process.   

I use reclaimed timber to make one off pieces of furniture that are as comfortable and functional as they are unique.  Where buying new wood is necessary it is always from a sustainable source.

The natural colours of different woods create wonderful contrasts, and simple, striking design features.  To add to this I have recently been experimenting with scorching oak to produce a deep black colour which I find particularly exciting.

Reclaimed wood influences the design of my work, but I believe making something truly beautiful demands a high quality finish.  I leave hidden evidence of the timber’s former use but don’t allow it to dominate the design.
